Assign the camera to a manual IP address on the same subnet as the rest of your local network; make sure this address is not being used by any other device, and that it is outside the range reserved for DHCP by your router (see the Local Networks section of this manual for more information).
v1.0.2
When network devices send messages to each other, they do so on a particular port, which can be thought of as a particular communication channel. By using different ports, several services (e.g. web, email, file transfer) can operate independently on the same device.

Port: this is the network port used to connect to SecuritySpy. SecuritySpy's default ports are 8000 and 8001 for HTTP and HTTPS respectively. CPU: the approximate amount of one processor core of the Mac's CPU that is being used. If you want to choose a capture destination for specific cameras only, you can do this under Is there an Android app for SecuritySpy? This defines the TCP/IP port number that is used for connections. A port number represents an endpoint or "channel" for network communications and allows different applications on the same computer to use the network without interfering with each other. On Mac OS X, it is not possible to use ports below 1024 unless you are logged in as root (you can do this by enabling the root account using Netinfo Manager), however this is not advisable for security reasons. You access the web server from another computer on the same local network by typing the server's IP address and port number into a web browser, for example: I highly recommend SecuritySpy whether you have one camera or dozens. The price is based on how many cameras you want. Since the company is based in England, the price in U.S dollars fluctuates. At this writing a one-camera license costs approximately $38.80 all the way to unlimited for $842.27. You can download the demo here. Enter the LAN IP address of the server (i.e. the Mac running SecuritySpy). This feature sends an email, optionally with attached JPEG images, to an address you specify. To send the email to multiple addresses, enter them separated by commas.
